Artivism sculpture
- Posted on: March 23, 2023
We have used plastic waste, an old body board and fishing waste found by a local fisherman to create a turtle ‘artivism’ sculpture. This can also be used as a recycling bin!
Plastic clever school film
- Posted on: March 21, 2023
The film contains images and clips from our plastic clever journey and our next plans to reduce more plastic in our school.
Campaign
- Posted on: March 15, 2023
The Year 5 pupils created posters and went around the school campaigning for wet wipes to be banned in school and for pupils to bring in reusable water bottles and not single-use plastic. They moved around the inside and outside school areas with their posters and chants (sorry for the intermittent sound on the video, I’m not sure why it is cutting out). We also had a loads of other classes coming into the corridors and joining in with our chants. We then uploaded the image on twitter encouraging other to only buy reusable bottles and to stop flushing wet wipes down the toilet. The pupils had a fantastic time and were able to use their learning to feel inspired in their campaign.
Action Plan
- Posted on: March 14, 2023
The pupil had a look at the audit and decided that they would like to find a way to recycle our plastic pens. They aim to write to the local council to ask for recycling bins for our plastic pens in school. They also found some wet wipes around school and following their own research on the impact of wet wipes they have decided to create a campaign to remove wet wipes and single-use plastic water bottles in school.
Plastic Audit
- Posted on: March 12, 2023
Year 5 helped me to complete the plastic audit across the school.
Investigation into plastic entering our oceans.
- Posted on: March 12, 2023
Our pupils have learnt about how plastic can be blown into the rivers and make its way to the ocean. We also went on a trip to identify where our local river was and where it met the sea, considering how plastic and pollution could get into it along the way. We also completed a beach clean whilst on the beach.
The pupils also completed their own research about plastic in the oceans and the great garbage patch in the Pacific, they were shocked by what they found out.
