We visited the Local Waste Management Unit of Florina and the Center for Creative Reuse of Materials. The aim of the visit was to inform and raise students’ awareness about the importance of recycling and reusing materials, as key tools for environmental protection and promotion of sustainability.
A call to act against plastics

To make our classmates to take action against plastic pollution, we created a poster in both Greek and English. We also made a collection of drawings with messages about the importance of recycling and caring for the environment and our planet.

Although our survey showed that the plastic water bottles is the most common category of plastic waste in our school, we have decided to address all types of single-use plastic items and plastic objects. Our action plan for reducing plastic waste was primarily focused on changing our behavior, aiming to become responsible citizens of tomorrow by encouraging recycling and reuse.

We design and build a water filter at school that can clean a dirty water sample using plastic bottles. By using them in a project, students learn how plastic can be reused instead of becoming litter or pollution.

Schoolyard cleaning

The students of class A2 spent a November morning cleaning the schoolyard and the surrounding outdoor area. Using gloves and garbage bags, they worked with enthusiasm and cooperation. They collected plastic bottles, papers, and leaves, making the space cleaner and more pleasant. Their efforts reflected their respect for the environment and school community.
