Last week, our class embarked on an inspiring and educational journey in the city of Kalamata. Our mission was to collect plastic waste as part of the Clever Plastic Schools competition, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about recycling and environmental sustainability.
Equipped with gloves, reusable bags, and a strong sense of purpose, we walked through Kalamata’s streets, parks and coastal areas. As we collected plastic bottles, bags and other discarded items, we were shocked by the amount of waste littering such a beautiful city. However, this only motivated us to work harder.
Throughout the day, we also had meaningful conversations with local residents who were curious about our activity. Many expressed gratitude , showing that small efforts can inspire larger change.
By the end of the day, we had collected a significant amount of plastic, which will be sent for recycling. More importantly, we left with a sense of accomplishment and a deeper understanding of the impact of our actions on the environment.
This experience taught us the power of teamwork and the importance of taking care of our planet. We hope our efforts will inspire others to think twice about their plastic use and consider more sustainable choices. Together, we can make a difference!
