- Posted on: November 19, 2024
At the recent Open Evening, a pupil ( Year 6) presented the powerpoint to parents and children attending.
Assembly on recycle or reuse plastic. Which isbetter?
- Posted on: July 7, 2023
2 year 4 children worked with their head teacher and class teacher on this assembly using Picture News as a resource. They added slides and questions. Their head teacher filmed it as Picture News would like to use it.
All the children in their class contributed well to the discussions. Video to follow.
Lunchtime plastic project
- Posted on: June 20, 2023
Year 3 and 4 children have been very keen to reduce the single use plastic that the school kitchen uses for lunchtimes in the form of yogurt pots, whips, fruit salad, jelly, icecream and other desserts.
They have persuaded Sam, the lead in the kitchen and she has ordered reusable dishes for everything to date except the yogurts and ice cream. She is looking into bigger containers of yogurt to be able to spoon into the dishes.
The children have a rota to wash out all the yogurt and ice cream pots each day so they can be put into the recycle bin.
Action plan
- Posted on: April 27, 2023
Using their audit the children selected the lunchtime problem of yogurts pots and ice ream cartons to address.
Plastic clever audit
- Posted on: April 24, 2023
Please find audit uploaded.
We were happy to see that our use of single use plastic is not too excessive.
School council promotion
- Posted on: November 7, 2022
Members of the school council wrote their own script and practised it before Mrs Gadsby, the head teacher, videoed it for them. We hope you enjoy it and understand their message.
Litter/plastic free assembly
- Posted on: November 5, 2022
The school council presented 2 Q and A assemblies about litter and the facts about plastic. Many parents give children a treat after school and despite all children being able to tell you about the importance of putting litter in the bin, litter is still dropped, sweet packets and crisp packets mainly. The school council informed fellow pupils about danger to animals and the fact that plastic does not rot away.
After the annual pupil survey, 3 more outside bins were purchased at the Y5 pupils’ suggestion.
Y3 School council litter pick
- Posted on: October 11, 2022
The two Year 3 school council members and 4 supporting pupils conducted a litter
pick of the school grounds and outside the school gate. What they noticed was that the vast majority of the litter… a big black bin liner full, was plastic! Some of the plastic they found buried in the undergrowth of the woodland walk was very old. This shows that plastic does not rot away and litter dropped will be around for many, many years!
