Action plans to reduce plastic in our school
- Posted on: December 4, 2023
The student environmental ambassadors have been liaising with other students and from the audit they have chosen two areas of plastic to reduce this year. Here are our action plans. We are excited to start to put these into practice and hope that other staff get on board with our ideas.
– reducing the number of whiteboard pens that go into the rubbish
– reducing the number of glue sticks bought by Heads of Department.
Plastic audit
- Posted on: October 16, 2023
We have done an audit of plastic used in our school. We have discovered that the biggest use of plastic is not single use, but still disposable – whiteboard pens. There are some good strategies in our school, like the stopping of selling plastic water bottles and the use of a machine to sell juice in bottles that students bring themselves. We need to find some recycling for these pens which are a huge waste of plastic.
