For the last two years we have been completing half-termly Litter Picking events both in school and within the community.
The bottle lids that we collect as part of this are then washed and recycled into key rings, bird houses and insect feeders as part of the DT curriculum and ECO club activities. An recent article has just been published, written by one of our DT teachers who teaches using recycled plastics is attached as a photo, to show how this idea came about.
We have won a Lord-Lieutenant Business Community Award as a result of the work we have completed, one of the only schools in Leicestershire to have accomplished this.
