Widemouth Class at Highgate Hill House School, gathered 1 piece of litter they could find in our school grounds and we returned to discus what the litter was made of, where it came from, how long it takes for it to decompose and what harm it might be causing?
they were surprised to learn how long it takes for a wet wipe to fully decompose at around 2 to 5 years and a plastic bottle taking 250 years.
We discussed that we don't have a lot of litter in our school grounds as we only have a very few students that bring in snacks from home, the other learners have fruit of homemade flap jacks from the canteen.
