The students of the 2nd Primary School of Vasiliko, Greece, known as "The Crusaders," have taken an inspiring step toward protecting the environment and reducing plastic waste. During the winter months, the students gathered plastic bottles from the local beach—part of their commitment to keeping the sea clean and free of pollution.
After collecting the bottles, the children brought them to the special recycling machine provided by the local municipality. For every 33 plastic bottles, they received a reward of 1 Euro. This small but meaningful incentive was used to purchase a new recycling bin for the school courtyard, further encouraging sustainable practices within the school community.
This initiative not only provided a practical solution for recycling but also taught the students valuable lessons about the importance of reducing waste, taking action, and contributing to a cleaner planet. The Crusaders now have a new recycling bin at school, and they are more motivated than ever to continue their efforts to protect the sea and the environment.
Through their collective action, the students are demonstrating that every small step counts, and that together, we can make a big difference.
