THE CRUSARES DEFEND OUR SEA

As part of our marine protection project, the students of Grades 2 and 3 at the 2nd Primary School of Vasiliko created a special video to express why the sea matters so much to them — and why they are determined to protect it from plastic pollution.

Our school is located just a short distance from the sea, and for the children, the coast is not only a place of play and beauty, but also a part of their everyday lives. Many of their families depend on the sea for their livelihood through fishing, tourism, and related activities.

In the video, filmed in the courtyard of our beautiful school, the children explain in their own words:

  • Why they love the sea — for its animals, its colors, its calmness, and the joy it brings them every day.

  • Why they feel responsible for its protection — because it is theirs, it is near, and it is in danger.

  • How plastic pollution hurts the marine world, and how even small actions can help make a difference.

They repeatedly and passionately express their love for the ocean and their strong desire to see it clean and full of life. They speak not just as students, but as young citizens of a coastal community who are growing up with a deep connection to nature — and a clear understanding of their role in protecting it.

This project, and the video they created, is a reflection of their voice, their commitment, and their belief that children can be powerful defenders of our planet.

“We love the sea,” they say. "No more plastics. The sea belongs to the sea. Not to the plastic."

We invite you to watch their message and be inspired by their sincerity, creativity, and hope.
